Animal & Nature

  • Nowhere else in Sweden can you see as many birds as during a really good migration day at Falsterbo – the record is over 1.5 million birds in a single day! The high season runs from late August through October, and in the right weather conditions, you can witness hundreds of thousands of birds on the move. The raptor migration is especially impressive in clear and calm weather. Early in the season, long-distance migrants such as honey buzzards and swallows can be seen, while species like rough-legged buzzards and skylarks appear later.

  • Experience seals at Måkläppen (Visiting allowed from November 1st to January 31st). Like a drop at the southern tip of the Falsterbo Peninsula, Måkläppen stretches out into the sea. The long sandbar, which today nearly forms a circle, has a core of moraine but is constantly reshaped by wind and water. Both harbor seals and grey seals thrive on this shifting sandbank.

  • Around Falsterbo Resort, some of Skåne’s most scenic nature reserves spread out – perfect for hiking, birdwatching, and relaxing moments in nature. Right next to the campsite lies Skanörs Ljung, an open heathland with heather fields and excellent opportunities to spot migratory birds in both spring and autumn. A short excursion will take you to Måkläppen, a unique coastal reserve where, in winter, you can experience wild seals in their natural habitat. On the eastern side of the peninsula awaits Kämpinge Strandbad Nature Reserve, with a long sandy beach and shady pine forest – ideal for peaceful walks or a refreshing dip on warm days. All three areas offer different nature experiences, but they share one thing in common: they are just a stone’s throw from Falsterbo Resort.

  • Falsterbo Camping Resort enjoys an unbeatable location – surrounded by some of Sweden’s most beautiful beaches. Just a stone’s throw away is Falsterbo Strandbad, with its soft white sand, shallow waters, and views over the horizon – perfect for both families with children and sun-seekers.

A short bike ride north takes you to Skanörs Havsbad, known for its charming, colorful beach huts and crystal-clear water. Cozy restaurants and cafés can also be found near the harbor, making it easy to combine beach life with great food.

A little further away, on the eastern side of the peninsula, lies Kämpinge Strandbad – a tranquil and beautiful beach with both open sand dunes and shady pine forests, ideal for a full day of swimming and walking. No matter which beach you choose, kilometers of coastline, fresh sea breeze, and a feeling of freedom await – all within easy reach from the campsite.
